Even though it may be cold, there are still lots of birds to be found in and around Rochester, and a local event will pay them a New Year’s visit.
A field trip for the birding public has been planned for early January and it will visit Irondequoit Bay Outlet and Durand Eastman Park, offering a chance to those who enjoy the hobby to start building their lists for the year. Registration will open about two weeks ahead of the activity, and everyone who Signs up is asked to meet at the parking lot designated as the starting point.
The participants can expect to see a variety of waterfowl songbirds and other species that overwinter in the area. Spotting scopes are strongly recommended, and everyone is advised to wear layers and dress for the cold. Social distancing measures will be in place.
Organized excursions give those who enjoy a particular hobby a chance to meet others who share their interest. Leaflets are often an effective way to advertise these sorts of events, and they will be available at a flyer printing company.
The Rochester Birding Association will be kicking off 2022 with this day of birding, which will take place on January 1. Registration is open as of today, and everyone is asked to be at the meet-up point by 8:00 am.
