What's Happening in Rochester, NY…

Rochester outing to visit area owls

A day out on the hunt for one of the region's smallest owl species will pay a visit to a Rochester area site this winter, and the participants will also be on the lookout for other birds of prey.

Often associated with wisdom, there are many owl species that can be found in the area, and the smallest of these is the northern saw-whet. This visit to the Owl Woods at the Braddock Bay Wildlife Management Area will hope to spot these birds, and boots and other warm clothing are highly recommended.

The registrants will meet up in the parking lot located on Manitou Beach Road, and they will head out from there. Along with the saw-whets, the organizers explained that long eared owls, hawks and other bird species may be seen as well. It will pay a visit to the Hawk Watch site, and it was explained that Covid prevention measures will be followed.

Birding is a hobby that can be enjoyed throughout a person’s life. Activities that encourage people to discover this pastime may be made easier with promotional products and other supplies provided by a printing services company.

This trip for beginning birders is scheduled to take place on March 26. Pre-registration is mandatory, and everyone is asked to meet at the gathering point by no later than 8:30 am.
