What's Happening in Rochester, NY…

Rochester learns about emergency preparedness

Preparation is key should an emergency arise, and an upcoming Rochester workshop will show just how easy it can be.

A beginner-friendly class coming up soon will cover a variety of topics that can help area individuals and households make sure they are ready for an emergency. It will teach both the dos and don’ts, and the registration fee is $57.

The event is called Toilet Paper Won't Save You: Emergency Preparedness Class for Beginners, and as the title suggests, it encourages making smart moves instead of panicking. While the subject matter may be serious, the organizers hope to deliver the learning in a way that will be fun and informative. A variety of topics will be covered, such as communication planning, how to purchase and prepare food for long-term storage, and what essentials should always be on hand. It will explain how it is possible to do all of this on a budget, too.

A class or workshop like this can provide a lot of learning in a small amount of time. Copies of handouts that include full-color diagrams, as well as promotional pens, certificates of completion, and other customized products can be ordered for a function from area printers.

It will be on offer at 2.75 Marketplace Drive in Rochester on Saturday, May 3, and is scheduled to start at 9:00 am.
