Rochester fishers set to cast their lines
Rochester fishers who would like to put their casting skills to the test are welcome to sign up for a local fishing derby.
Pittsford’s Powder Mills Park will see local fishers drop their lines to try and land the big one, and prizes will be presented to those with the largest catch. To win a prize, the competitors will need to be registered. The fee to do this is $5 for those aged nine or over, while anyone younger may participate free of charge.
The headquarters for the derby will be set up at the park’s Powder Horn Lodge, and one of the top awards will be the Bank of America $500 Angler Award, which will be presented to the fisher who land the largest brown trout. Other prizes, including a variety of donated corporate gifts, will be presented as well. Anyone 16 and over will need to have a valid fishing permit to participate.
Community events give neighbors the chance to get to know one another in a fun and friendly environment. A poster printing company can lend a hand in by helping to get the word out to the public.
The 21st annual Fish Derby on Monday will begin next week on April 1. Anyone who is interested can sign up by visiting its web listing, which can be done up until 6:00 am on the day.
