Rochester conference to zero in on food waste

Businesses that would like to discover ways they can accommodate these new food waste laws may want to make time for a symposium in Rochester this June.

The state of New York has undertaken an initiative that it hopes will divert many tons of food waste from its landfills each year. With this in mind, the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute has devised a daylong event to give those who are concerned about minimizing food waste information and procedures they can utilize in their own establishment. It will offer an environment in which delegates can share their own best practices, and collaboration will be highly encouraged.

According to the planners of the symposium, reducing waste makes sense from both an environmental and financial perspective. It minimizes the loss of profits while, at the same time, it creates opportunities to create a circular economy where the byproducts of one industry can be utilized by another instead of simply being disposed of. A selection speakers will offer their insights on the topic, and the keynote address will discuss the benefits of implementing practices that minimize food waste.

This learning opportunity will be offered at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and there is no fee being charged to register. A banner printing company can craft reusable signage for this sort of function, which will fit in well with its overall environmentally friendly theme.

June 4 has been set as the date for the ‘Managing Food Waste in New York’ symposium. It is scheduled to run from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
