Jazz festival has new sponsor

The Rochester International Jazz Festival and CGI Communications will work together in 2019.

The company will become one of the sponsors of the festival next year. Bob Bartosiewicz, president of CGI Communications, said the sponsorship will last three years. The idea was to market the downtown Rochester area and the festival was an excellent opportunity, since he says that in the last 18 years, the event has become bigger, as has CGI. The company has gained over 10 times its number of employees during the period.

The festival will contain the same music, but it will have the CGI name in the front and the fact that M&T Bank presents the festival is now mentioned at the end. Xerox had been a sponsor from 2009 until this year, when the contract expired. Executive director and co-producer of the festival, Marc Iacona, thanked Xerox for sponsoring the event for a decade and being a major contributor of bettering the festival's goals.

CGI, which has been around for three decades, sponsors a small series of concerts called Party in the Park. However, the festival is much larger. Bartosiewicz is excited for the benefits toward the downtown area.

This will be the 18th yearly festival scheduled for the last week in June. Passes will be available in October and the guestlist will be disclosed in March.
