Holiday celebration launched with time-honored tradition

The Liberty Pole Lighting and Family Fun Day is taking place this December in Rochester.

The events will start off at Liberty Pole Plaza where Mayor Lovely Warren will flip a switch and turn on the lights outside of the Sibley Building. There are also set to be musical performances by the University of Rochester Yellow Jackets Vocal Point and Prime Time Brass. Later, Santa, Mrs. Claus, and other festive characters will pose for pictures with visitors.

Next, the holiday parade will travel to the ice rink at Manhattan Square; a trolley will take people there instead of walking. Once there, visitors will be treated to a fireworks display, a 30-foot decorated tree, and free open skating to the music of Beal's Rock and Roll Review. Food and drinks can be purchased there.

For those who would be indoors, the Maple Park Lodge will provide lots of activities to keep people busy.

Rochester printing companies will often help to advertise events such as this by providing products for a reasonable price. The Flyers can then be either mailed out or delivered by hand to houses in the city.

The Liberty Pole Lighting and Family Fun Day will take place on December 6 from 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm. To get the latest information on planned activities, call 716-428-5990.
