Annual festival offers classes in quilt making

The Genesee Valley Quilt Fest is taking place next month in Rochester for four days, presented by the Genesee Valley Quilt Club.

There are set to be three days of workshops for both advanced and beginner quilters. The cost for each is $75 and some of the workshop subjects include wholecloth painting, coloring quilts, and a twisted quilt series. There will also be lectures by teachers such as Susan Brubaker Knapp, who is the festival’s featured teacher, and Kathryn Greenwold. Topics include ‘The Artist in You’ and ‘Quilts of Upstate New York’, and cost $10 to attend.

Over 60 vendors will be on hand to sell items such as thread, patches, and sewing accessories. Artists will be giving quilt making demonstrations and more than 600 quilts will be on hand, including many vintage ones.

No doubt this event will attract quilters and quilt admirers from all over the Rochester area. To advertise, organizers may have invested in flyer printing services.

The Genesee Valley Quilt Fest will be held at the Rochester Institute of Technology from June 1 to 4, with workshops to be held during the first three days only. The price of admission is $10 per day for adults and $8 for seniors and students. A weekend pass is $20 or $16, while children aged 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
