The annual Westchester Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk, hosted by the Lustgarten Foundation in support of research for the disease, will be held later this month at the Rye Playland Park in Rye, just a short distance from New Rochelle.
The walk is two miles in length and dogs are permitted to join in. There will be a photo wall so those who have loved ones touched by the disease can post their photographs on the wall. There will also be an area for kids with face painting, a balloon artist, and other fun activities.
Poster printing has been used to create a poster about the walk, which businesses and individuals can display so as to generate enthusiasm for the walk and encourage participation.
The Lustgarten Foundation is the largest private organization in the country whose sole mission is to fund research on pancreatic cancer. According to the executive director and chief operating officer of the Foundation, Kerri Kaplan, it is due to dedicated individuals who take part in the walk, along with the support of Cablevision, that all proceeds will be able to go directly to raising awareness of the disease and advancing research for better treatments, detection, and eventually a cure.
The walk will be held on Sunday April 19 with registration at 8:00 am and the walk beginning at 9:00 am.
