New Rochelle Library to host reminiscences afternoon
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts and the New Rochelle Public Library will be hosting an afternoon of nostalgia next month.
This program is titled “A ‘Dick Van Dyke Show’ Celebration with Larry Mathews (aka Ritchie Petrie).” This will be a celebration a beloved sitcom on television, “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” Larry Matthews played Ritchie Petrie, the son of Laura and Rob, and will be coming to New Rochelle, which was the fictional hometown of the show. He will share his personal memories of the series and reflect on his time working with the comic legends of the day.
Highlights of the event include the screening of “Never Name a Duck,” which was Larry’s favorite episode with Larry’s live commentary; behind-the-scenes color photos and home movies taken by Larry; questions and answers from the audience; a meet and greet with opportunities for autographs and selfies; and a display of replica props and vintage show memorabilia. The program will be moderated by David Van Deusen, the publisher of “The Dick Van Dyke Show Newsletter” and “The Walnut Times.”
Such unique and special events can be promoted throughout a city and neighboring communities with poster printing.
