Store with unique crafts opens in train station

The Little Beehive recently opened for business in the building that houses the New Rochelle train station.

The shop is a mini-emporium that sells handmade soaps, scented candles, and other items soothing to the senses. One of the partners in the store, Dawn-Marie Manwaring, said that the store specializes in unique, handmade, and well-designed items, trying to bring the unexpected to a train station.

Manwaring’s partner is former New Rochelle resident, Melanie Reichler, who creates handmade soaps and candles, and whose products Manwaring has sold in the popular Beehive store in Mt. Kisco. Reichler also sells her products at the Grand Market, which is held on Saturday mornings during the summer, that is part of the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District.

Executive director of the New Rochelle Business Improvement District, Ralph DiBart, commented that the Little Beehive is another place in the downtown area for accessories and gifts that cannot be found anywhere else. It is a welcome addition to the other retail establishments for finding original items and gifts unlike major cookie-cutter locations.

Flyers and Posters could be used to promote the works in the store that come from 20 craftspeople and artists, primarily from Westchester country, and as a destination for finding special gifts, accessories, and even handmade pottery.
