A new Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Wellness is now being offered by the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences of Iona University in New Rochelle.
This degree is designed for those interested in health education, advocacy, public health, and the prevention of disease. Students in this program will be able to be certified for Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training and for NASPA Certified Peer Educator (CPE) training.

Founding Dean of the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences, Kavita R. Dhanwada, Ph.D., said that students at Iona in this program will earn a strong skillset and a robust degree, appropriate for positions in areas related to health that include careers as community health workers and health education specialists. In addition, Dhanwada said that this degree can prepare students for careers in occupational therapy and allied health.
The Health and Wellness degree will have a multi-disciplinary approach that students can use to explore several disciplines in depth, such as entrepreneurship, communications, healthcare marketing, and psychology. There will be a strong emphasis on community engagement.
