New Rochelle receives award for planned innovative technology

The United States Mayors Challenge of the Bloomberg Philanthropies recently awarded $1m to the City of New Rochelle.

New Rochelle was one of nine cities to win this award, which was the culmination of work done by leaders to develop inventive ways to solve the many problems these communities face. Among the other cities receiving this award were Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Huntington, West Virginia; and Durham, North Carolina.

Mayor Noam Bramson said the challenge inspired city officials to be more collaborative, entrepreneurial, and creative. He added that the community will greatly benefit not only from the new technological tools, but also from the commitment of the city to excellence which has resulted from its interactions with the Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Business heavyweight Michael Bloomberg added that through these awards, city and town leaders are able to address some of the issues the federal government is not able to undertake, and the such a competition enables cities and towns to be innovative in their approaches to important problems with large incentives.

New Rochelle plans to use both augmented and virtual reality to better present development plans for new public spaces and buildings as a way to improve the engagement of its citizens.

Banner printing companies can be used to create displays throughout the city so that residents will become aware of such awards and how they can help people become more involved in citywide decisions.
