The Kelly Center for Health Sciences at New Rochelle’s Iona University is now open.
The center was made possible by a gift of $5m from Alfred Kelly, Jr. of the class of 1980, and his wife, Peggy, from the class of 1981.
The center is part of the University’s new campus in Bronxville. It will be the flagship building of the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences.
Located in the space that was once the library of Concordia College campus, it spans close to 32,000 square feet and covers three floors. The design of the space has a focus on holistic wellness, so the building has many natural elements and is bright and ecologically friendly, with cutting-edge collaborative spaces to promote interdisciplinary learning.
Among its features are four laboratory rooms with occupational therapy space, five simulation rooms with connected control rooms, two group therapy rooms, six classroom seminar rooms, and two patient examination rooms. Such new facilities and their offerings and benefits for students are often promoted with flyer printing.
Kelly expressed his honor in opening this new center as he believes that the school will become a major destination for those who want to serve others in the fields of study offered. Seamus Carey, Ph.D., president of Iona University, said the opening of the center will usher in a new era.
