One of the three Mid-Hudson winners of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) is New Rochelle, which will receive $10m in funds from the state for its Lincoln Avenue Corridor project.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said that a new generation of visitors, businesses, and residents will be attracted to the Lincoln Avenue Corridor. The funding provided will enable New Rochelle, Westchester County, and the region to grow economically.
Noam Bramson, Mayor of New Rochelle, added that the funding shows how important the Downtown Revitalization Initiative is for communities across the state. He added that the city is excited about being the recipient of this award.
The funds from the DRI award will enable New Rochelle to continue its revitalization of the Lincoln Avenue Corridor, which is one mile in length and contains a hospital that has been recently renovated, mixed-income residential housing, a Metro-North train station, and green space. It is also part of the Arts and Cultural District of the city.
Plans also include extending the walkable and transit-oriented design of the area by improving traffic and pedestrian circulation, and creating a more sustainable environment.
New Rochelle banner printing companies can be used to create displays throughout the city so that residents will become aware of such awards and their impact on their lives and the downtown area.
