Library reveals its summer schedule

The New Rochelle Public Library is offering a variety of activities and workshops over the summer for children and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 17.

Monday afternoons will be dedicated to crafts, which participants can create and take home. Starting Monday, July 7, and running for six weeks, there will be demonstrations of easy-to-prepare and healthy foods by Chef Giovanni Green of ‘Break Bread Not Hearts’.

Starting Tuesday, July 8, and running for five weeks, there will be Mexican dance classes of a traditional nature taught by Martha Gutierrez. The culmination of the classes will be a performance on August 5, when students will perform before the Calpulli Mexican Dance Troupe as part of the International Dance and Music series of the Library.

Wednesday afternoons will be a tournament challenge on either the PS4 or Xbox One, with prizes awarded to the winners.

On Thursday afternoons, middle school students will be challenged by the Summer Writers Program to create and explore a variety of creative writing pieces that are not usually taught in the formal classroom environment. The instructors are high school students who will also be on hand for homework help sessions.

Flyer printing is one way to get the word out about events like these, and to help parents plan for a summer that is both fun and educational.
