Educational program launches at college in New Rochelle

Iona University in New Rochelle has unveiled its artificial intelligence (AI) micro credential program with Yonkers Public Schools.

This program will focus on providing educators with the skills and knowledge they need to be able to implement AI tools in the classroom and elsewhere. It will consist of five sessions that will take place both virtually and in the classroom over the next five months. Among the topics in the courses will be case study analysis, the writing of prompts, and ethical and practical uses of AI. Brochure printing can be used to provide more details about such programs and their benefits for both students and teachers.

The provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Iona, Tricia Mulligan, Ph.D., said although there may be a great deal of anxiety about the use of AI in the classroom, this is an exciting opportunity for both students and educators to embrace a new mindset and approach to learning and teaching.

This program is part of the AI@Iona initiatives that are growing and are run out of the Gabelli Center for Teaching and Learning at the university. More schools are scheduled to participate in the micro credential program of AI@Iona starting next year.

The Yonkers Public School District is the third largest district in the state. It consists of over 25,000 students from 100 nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds and is one of the largest employers in Westchester County.
