College seeks applications from local employers

Recently designated as a START-UP NY location, The College of New Rochelle is now accepting applications from high-technology businesses that align with the mission of the college and are able to provide jobs for the school’s student body.

According to the president of The College of New Rochelle, Judith Huntington, the selection made by Governor Andrew Cuomo embraces the commitment of the College to entrepreneurial spirit. Some of the businesses with which the College expects to establish a partnership deal in information technology, biotechnology, engineering products, and remanufacturing.

Huntington added that, by being a part of this program, the students of the College will have access to internships and experiential learning opportunities. New employment opportunities and new local investments will also result stimulating economic growth in the city and across Westchester County as well.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson commented that it is a “big win” for both the College and the city, as he expects it will become known for its ability to use higher education to promote economic growth.

START-UP NY is a program wherein businesses receive various incentives to launch, relocate, or expand in the state by affiliating with public and private universities, colleges, and community colleges. Print companies can qualify for the program, and the College is most likely turning to various printing services to inform local businesses of the program.
