College in New Rochelle to offer nursing program

Iona College in New Rochelle will be offering a new Bachelor of Science degree program in nursing this fall, having been approved by the New York State Department of Education.

The college will be offering two ways to earn a bachelor’s degree. There will be a traditional four-year program that will include a liberal arts curriculum and a set of core courses, as well as an accelerated program that will take 15 months and is for students who have a bachelor’s degree in another field. Graduates of both programs will be able to take the National Certification and Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Brochure printing can be used to provide more detailed information regarding coursework and clinical work required for such programs.

A state-of-the-art learning facility that has an area of 7,500 square feet will house the program, where the latest technology, equipment, and simulated learning opportunities will feature. A student to faculty ratio of 8 to 1 will ensure small group clinical instructional settings and personalized learning.

President of the college, Seamus Carey, Ph.D., said that the program will prepare nurses to serve patients with compassion, initiate and adapt to change, engage in advocacy and leadership, and be lifelong learners.

This program will add to other health care programs at the college that include Speech Pathology and Audiology, Marriage and Family Counseling, and Occupational Therapy.
