The first scholar in residence is now at Iona College in New Rochelle, at the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies (ITPS).
Lindsay M. Chervinsky, Ph.D., is an expert in presidential history, the cabinet, and institutions of the United States government.
Chervinsky will be hosting a new Iona podcast that will begin with a three-part miniseries exploring the unprecedented events of this year. Chervinsky will be focusing the many new conversations that are arising regarding the pandemic, issues of race, political unrest, and economic depression, with education and places of history at the center. Chervinksy will be discussing how cultural and educational institutions can interpret history and the many interrelated issues that challenge the country today.
Such podcasts and other work are often promoted throughout a community with flyer printing.
Chervinksy expressed her excitement about working with the ITPS and Iona College. She added that the ITPS leads the field in innovation and redefining how early American history is shared, so she is honored to be part of that mission. She said she is looking forward to sharing her work and expressed her gratitude for the support of the college in working on these public history projects.
Nora Slonimsky, director of the ITPS and assistant professor of history, added her thrill in having such a generous and brilliant historian as Dr. Chevinsky as their first scholar in residence.
