Revolutionary War history lecture announced in New City

New City residents who are looking to learn more about United States history in the area as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary will want to save the date for an upcoming lecture.

The RevWar250 Lecture: Protecting the Ramapo Pass will welcome history enthusiasts and other interested individuals this summer to take a closer look at a critical juncture of the American Revolution. The experience is being organized by the Historical Society of Rockland County, with historian Craig Long leading the lecture.

The experience will take a closer look at some of the small fortifications that General George Washington had created at Sidman’s Bridge. Long will shed light on Washington’s understanding of the importance of holding Ramapo Pass, along with the steps he took to secure and hold it. Brochure printing can provide guests with additional information in a convenient and portable format at historical events like this.

Long, who was born in nearby Suffern, has family roots dating back to the 18th century in the area, and has used his knowledge and passion for local history to produce several local history Books, making him an excellent fit as the lecturer.

The Historical Society of Rockland County, located on Zukor Road, will host the lecture, which will kick off at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 28th. Reservations can be made online for $5, and spots are limited.
