History lovers will want to make plans to visit New City this April, as a local historian has announced a lecture on the area’s role during the American Revolution.
The RevWar250 Lecture will welcome amateur historians and other interested parties for the “Week That Won the War” discussion soon, providing an in-depth look at the events that led to success for the Patriots and Continental Army. The lecture will look at the story of HMS Vulture, a British ship, and the cannon fire that resulted in Major John Andre’s stranding.
The Vulture was in Haverstraw Bay, and after being fired upon, it left Major Andre behind, forcing him to continue to Westchester via land, where he was ultimately captured and tried as a spy. Organizers who wish to provide a large amount of information to attendees of such events can use brochure printing, with Brochures offering ample space for details, maps, and the agenda.
The lecture will be held by Char Weigel, the VP of special projects for Revolutionary Westchester 250.The nonprofit organization is using such lectures as commemoration of the nation’s 250th birthday. Weigel has extensive knowledge, having authored a book about Major Andre.
The lecture will be held at the Historical Society of Rockland County in New City. It’s set for Sunday, April 26th, at 1:00 PM. Tickets are available online for $7.18.
