History lovers in New City who wish to learn about a pivotal time in the nation’s history through the eyes of one of Benedict Arnold’s closest associates will want to mark their Calendars for September.
The Mrs. Benedict Arnold Would Like a Word presentation, courtesy of the Historical Society of Rockland County, is getting ready to welcome guests and history enthusiasts who wish to learn about Peggy Shippen and her role in General Benedict Arnold’s betrayal of the Continental Army during the American Revolution.
The first-person program will provide attendees with the truth through Shippen’s letters, deeds, and wills. The documentation will be used to determine if Shippen was an unwitting innocent, or if she played a role in Arnold’s decision to reverse course and take up arms for the British. Print shops are a fantastic resource for producing high-quality educational documents to aid the learning experience at such events.
Char Weigel, a frequent publisher and presenter on American Revolutionary history in the Hudson Valley will present the program. Attendees will gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the nuances that 18th-century colonial women faced during the conflict.
The Historical Society of Rockland County will host the presentation in its upper-level exhibition galleries on Thursday, September 17th, starting at 7:00 PM. Space is limited, and tickets are available online for $7.18 per attendee.
