History lovers and residents who wish to learn more about the area’s past will converge on the New City area next month for a guided journey through the past.
The Piermont Places and Sparkill Spaces Historical Homes and Landmarks Tour is getting ready to embark and take a look at some of the most historically significant sites around New City, and interested individuals will want to reserve their spots. The event is being set up by the Historical Society of Rockland County as a way to make history more accessible for the community.
The experience will be a self-guided walk round the Rockland Bridge Historic District, with a special stop at the oldest house in Piermont, where George Washington was once hosted. Print shops can support events like this by providing printed Brochures with information about each stop and a map to help attendees track where they are going.
Spots are limited and early registration is open. Several historic homes along the route will be open to participants who want a more in-depth experience. Attendees are asked to wear soft-soled shoes and to refrain from eating or photography while touring the homes.
Ticket pickup is at 5 New Street in neighboring Sparkill. The tour itself will proceed on Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Tickets are $45 online or $50 at the door.
