Swing music makes comeback in New City

Music lovers looking for a new experience will want to mark their Calendars, as a swing and big band concert is in the works in New City.

The Big Band Sound, a local jazz orchestra, is practicing and rehearsing in preparation for a community concert in New City, and area residents and visitors are invited to take it all in. It will be the 22nd annual performance, continuing a long legacy of swing music and jazz in town. The host venue will have ample lawn space for attendees to make themselves comfortable, and lawn chairs and blankets are welcome inside the show.

The group focuses on music that brings back the big sound of swing bands spanning over a century of composition. Composers and artists like Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller will be covered. Poster printing is a timeless way to promote musical performances and concerts, combining images with information about the setting and setlist.

Most of the songs will come from the Golden Age of the Great American Songbook. The performance will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band, highlighting its importance to the New City community.

The jazz orchestra show will be held at the New City Library on Sunday, September 21, starting at 2:00 PM. The concert will move inside if there is rain. Admission is free.
