Historic tour celebrates New City history

History lovers in and around New City will want to make a note on their Calendars for next month, as a historic tour will explore the Tappan district of town.

The Historic Homes and Landmarks Tour-Tappan is giving area residents the chance to explore New City’s history and celebrate its landmarks. Beckerle Lumber and Home Center is sponsoring the event. The tour will celebrate the Tappan District’s 60th anniversary, tracing its history to the date when a map outlining the neighborhood was adopted by the Orangetown Town Board.

The house tour portion of the experience will be a self-guided walking tour. A number of homes and historic buildings along the route will be open to the public to promote the Orangetown community and its role within Rockland County. Print shops can help organizers promote these events with resources such as Flyers, Posters, and Brochures to maximize outreach.

Chef Beni Qosja of Giulio’s Restaurant will host tour participants offering them lunch at a special rate, with diners eating in the Victorian-styled Queen Anne House. Lunch will be $25 per diner. Space is limited, and interested parties are encouraged to book their tickets without delay.

The tour will start at 20 Zukor Road in New City on Saturday, October 4 running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Tickets start at $40 per person online.
