New consignment shop opens in Manhasset

A new second-hand luxury fashion store, The RealReal, is now open in Manhasset. This is the 15th location of the brand in the country.

The store spans 3,700 square feet and is on Northern Boulevard. It specializes in consignment services and sells home and art goods, watches and fine jewelry, accessories such as handbags, shoes, and items for kids. The brand prides itself on being the largest online marketplace for authenticated, resale luxury goods as it endeavors to bring new life to such luxury brands as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel.

The company has said that every item undergoes a rigorous authentication process, which is supervised by experts so that it provides a reliable platform for consumers to sell and buy luxury items. The company does all the legwork, including using machine learning and artificial intelligence to determine the best pricing, authentication, taking pictures of and listing the items, and taking care of shipping and all customer service issues. Brochure printing is often used by such companies to outline their specific services.

Vice president of retail, Courtney Hawkins, said that a temporary store had been opened in Manhasset to determine demand. Hawkins added that its success will provide a more convenient and larger place for the growing community on Long Island to engage with experts in their field and learn more about the circular economy.
