Manhasset youth who would like to learn how they can offer high quality babysitting services will soon have an opportunity to add to their childcare skills while also finding out how they can manage their small business.
Winthrop’s University Hospital’s Georgette Basso and JoAnn Tanck, who both work in its Maternal Care Unit, have been chosen to facilitate the workshop, and they will guide the students through an exploration of what it takes to be a great babysitter. The learning will include hands-on components, and it has been requested that each participant brings along a stuffed animal or doll so they can practice their new skills.
The class will include advice about how a young person can market their childcare business and also how to conduct themselves during the initial interview with parents or guardians. Diapering, clothing and feeding a baby or toddler will also be addressed, as will the basics of first aid. Time will be spent on discussing ways of keeping a child both safe and entertained, and at the end of the session, each participant will go home with a certificate of completion that they can show to prospective clients. Someone who is in the process of setting up a babysitting or other small business can market themselves with Flyers and other Promotional Products, and items like these can be crafted by an area printer.
The Childcare and First Aid workshop, which is geared towards kids who are from grades 7 to 1, will be offered on November 7th. It will be held in the Manhasset Library, and registration is currently open. Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products Get a Free Quote for Flyers
