Manhasset invited to brush up on baby care basics

Manhasset parents to be and also grandparents and those who work in the childcare industry who are interested in brushing up on their baby care skills may wish to save the date for an upcoming workshop.

The Baby Care Basics course, which is being offered at the North Shore University Hospital, can help to give those who participate more confidence in their ability to care for an infant or small child. They will learn tips about feeding a baby, as well as bathing one, tricks that make the chore of diapering a whole lot easier, and also cord care.

The students in the class will discuss safety issues, the importance of immunizations, sleeping patterns, what baby equipment they might need, and also how they can best take a baby’s temperature. Each person who comes out is asked to bring along a stuffed animal or doll they can use for baby care practice. A local printing services provider can use comb binding and other techniques to craft manuals and other handouts for a learning event like this.

This workshop, which is just one of many that are offered by the North Shore University Hospital, will be taking place at 300 Community Drive in Manhasset on December 20. The price to register starts at $50 each, and more details can be obtained by calling (516) 881-7000.
