The Northwell Health Transplant Center at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) in Manhasset has been recognized as the top transplant program for kidneys in the country given the survival rate after one year for recipients of transplants. The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients made this announcement in its latest report.
Such recognitions are often made known throughout a community with poster printing.
Director and Vice president of the Northwell Health Transplant Center, Nabil N. Dagher, MD, FACS, said that the superior results from the report reflect the exceptional care that is received by their patients throughout the process, from evaluation, the surgery, care after surgery, and follow up over the long term. He added that the transplant program at Northwell should be a consideration for anyone who has kidney disease.
Medical director of Kidney Transplantation at Northwell Health, Vinay Nair, DO, added that these outstanding results requires both excellent leadership and staff who are dedicated and intelligent and work diligently throughout the transplant and post-transplant process. He added that the outcomes that are achieved underscore the multidisciplinary team of transplant professionals who care for their patients.
In 2007, Northwell started performing kidney transplants for adults. The pediatric kidney transplant program was established in 2017 at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park. NSUH offers comprehensive organ transplant services for kidney, heart, lungs, and liver for adults.
