The Fathoms Hotel and Marina has now been opened in Port Washington.
As an intimate hotel with only six rooms overlooking Manhasset Bay, Fathoms is built on the site of the Knickerbocker Yacht Club on Main Street. The Yacht Club was founded in 1874 to encourage the cultivation of seamanship and naval science and the enjoyment of yachting.
The owners of the hotel, Steve and Cindie Leigh, believe that the boutique hotel with only six rooms will enable them to cater to the local community and create a customized experience for each guest. The couple purchased the property in February 2021 and lives in an apartment next to the hotel.
Bookings are currently being accepted at the hotel. There is a king-sized bed in each of the guestrooms, views of Manhasset Bay, and a Kohler rainfall showerhead. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast with pastries from several of the bakers in Port Washington. Such new hotels often turn to flyer printing to promote their distinctive offerings and features to both residents and out-of-town guests.
Bobbie Polay, Executive Director of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, said that the boutique hotel is ideal for those looking to treat themselves for a special occasion or a unique stay overnight. Polay described it as a “wonderful asset” to the town and the Chamber of Commerce.
