Babysitting course to be held in Manhasset

Youth from Manhasset are invited to attend a workshop that will give them the skills they need to start their own babysitting business.

The session, which will be facilitated by nurses Georgette Basso and JoAnn Tanck, will provide instruction in an assortment of areas, including how to feed, clothe, and diaper a baby or small child, the essentials of childcare and also first aid techniques they can use in case of accident or injury.

Attendees will also learn practical skills, such as how to start up their enterprise and market it successfully throughout the area, and also what questions are important to ask during an interview for a babysitting position. A printer can supply them with Flyers and other promotional materials that can help to promote a small business in the local area.

Each person who plans on participating will need to bring along a stuffed animal or baby sized doll with them, and upon successful completion of the workshop, they will all be issued a certificate that indicates they have had the training. Registration for the workshop can be done at the circulation desk. These will only be accepted in person, and a nonrefundable deposit is required.

The childcare and first aid workshop for teens will be held on Tuesday, May 30, and more information about the event has been added to the Manhasset Library’s website.
