NCMA to help those with memory loss
The Nassau County Museum of Art (NCMA) in Roslyn will give its virtual program for those with Alzheimer’s disease or memory loss. Adults from the county, including those from Island Park, are welcome to join.
Titled “Art of Conversation,” the event is an ongoing program that takes place each month, and sessions are limited to 12 people. The program encourages participants to openly discuss and personally reflect on different art and themes. With each session, new themes and artwork will be discussed, which will then be followed by an art demonstration.
The program is headed by Pamela Koehler, an artist from the local area. Her work focuses on both natural and built environments that surround us. She has given lectures, workshops, and talks at the NCMA, Whitney Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Morgan Library.
The NCMA also hosts other events and exhibits throughout the year. These are often promoted with the aid of poster printing, and locals from Nassau County who are interested can look out for them.
The Art of Conversation will take place on December 14 between 11:00 AM and 12:30 AM. Anyone interested must sign up online in advance. Registration for each session will cost $10. Once registered, participants will receive a Zoom link for the event. Anyone with more questions may email llync@nassaumuseum.org.
