Island Park presentation explores prehistoric plants

Just as with animals, plants can be “living fossils” and these species will be introduced during a learning session that will welcome Island Park adults.

Plants that existed since the time of the dinosaurs, and even before that, will be introduced during the Living Fossils presentation set for Island Park Public Library. It will be held in the evening and will have a running time of one hour.

The species discussed during the activity have adapted and evolved over time to survive under various conditions, and by browsing herbivores. They also do well in modern times and can be found in exotic places as well as close to home. To make the learning “hands-on”, everyone will be able to pot up their own prehistoric plant to grow in their own home garden. The organizers have requested that anyone interested register ahead of time so there will be enough materials on hand for everyone.

A class or workshop may provide a lot of information in a small amount of time, leaving the attendees eager to find out more. Planners may choose to order a copy of handouts for the learners, and this service can be provided by Stationery printers.

Island Park Library will be giving plant fans a chance to take a step back in time on August 13th. It will start at 6:00 pm.
