Island Park plans Memorial Day Parade

Island Park will soon be offering a salute to its veterans and currently serving members of the nation's military, and the community is encouraged to get involved.

The village’s annual Memorial Day Parade will soon take to its streets, and this year's Grand Marshall will be James W. Ruzicka Sr., who is a Navy veteran as well as a former Mayor and ex-chief of the Island Park Fire Department. Many local organizations will be marching, hitting the road at 10:00 am sharp.

The parade participants will line up at 9:30 am, and it will depart from its staging area on Waterford Road next to Masone Beach. It will follow a route along Long Beach, Radcliffe, and Ostend Road, and once it has reached its end point, there will be a ceremony at the Memorial Monument.

Local kids interested in getting involved may decorate their bicycles and enter the parade, with prizes presented to the best decorated entries. Bespoke awards and certificates for an activity can be crafted by Stationery printers, who will have many options available.

The 2026 Island Park Memorial Day parade will be giving veterans and military members a hearty salute this Saturday, May 23. Its web listing includes the most up-to-date information about the activity for anyone who plans on spectating or would like to enter their bike.
