Island Park plans Potter-inspired workshop
Learning about the STEM subjects can be a lot of fun, and the Island Park Public Library has organized an in-person activity that may help spark an interest in these topics.
STEM covers science, technology, engineering and math. The venue will be welcoming kids from the ages of 8 to 12 for a Hogwarts-themed workshop. The participants will be enjoying some hands-on fun making different “potions”, and it will run for one hour.
While attendees make their safe and edible concoctions, they will learn about the science behind the recipes. Everyone will be encouraged to get creative, and as they do, they can work with the other participants, and maybe even make a new friend. Inspiration will come from the “potions” in the Harry Potter franchise, and the activity has been scheduled for a Tuesday afternoon. At the time this was written, seats were still available, and they must be booked in advance, as this will aid in organizing the event.
Libraries often serve as community hubs, providing everything from literacy support to skill building and recreational workshops. A poster printing company can prepare materials that let just patrons know what’s on the way so they can plan to include them in their schedule.
