Island Park library jumps and jives

The Island Park Public Library is celebrating the upcoming 2017 Library Day in style - a style that includes wing tips, zoot suits, and fedoras.

The all-day event has crafts, music, and dancing all set around the Big Band Era.

The key performer of the day will be the Hot Jazz Jumpers. The four-man group performs a variety of vintage old timey music, including swing, jazz, and blues. They will perform twice for Library Day. The first set will be family performance, where children will be welcome to pitch in for a song or two. The second act will be an adults-only performance that will feature a dance floor where visitors can swing dance.

Aside from the music, the event will also feature a craft period for children three and up. They will be making their own instruments from recycled materials. The crafts will be made before the concert so that children will be able to use the instruments alongside the band. A photo booth will also be set up where visitors can take a vintage style 20s/30s photograph. All pictures will be taken digitally and sent via the library's Mailing services to the guests.

The Island Park Library Day will be held on March 25 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Island Park Public Library, located at 176 Long Beach Rd. Admission is free to the public. Anyone looking for more information should contact the library directly.
