Island Park kids offered ocean-themed activity

An afternoon of ocean exploration is on deck for Island Park kids, and they will not even have to leave dry land to participate.

Children from grades one to five will be taking part in some hands-on activities at the Island Park Public Library. It will have an ocean theme, and it will use fun and crafting to teach the junior scientists information about the sea and the creatures that call it home.

The session, which will run for 45 minutes, will be facilitated by an instructor from the Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Springs Harbor. The attendees will take part in an assortment of experiments, and they will also have an opportunity to use the recycled materials provided to design and build their own model watercraft. To make sure there are enough supplies on hand for the project, advance registration is required.

Youngsters are often eager to discover the world around them, and themed workshops give them a chance to do so. Area brochure printing companies will be able to work with the organizers to prepare a variety of materials that can make learning fun.

The Island Park Public library has made arrangements to welcome marine biologists in training for this special activity, which will be on offer on June 15. It is scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm.
