Island Park amateur chefs who think their meatballs are the best are challenged to put theirs to the test during Jetty Bar and Grill’s fifth annual Meatball Contest next month.
Those who come to the competition will be able to sample both meatballs and wine, and then vote for their favorites. Anyone who wants to be a competitor and not just a spectator is asked to register in advance, as this will help in planning the event.
A prize of a $25 gift card for Jetty’s, a trophy, and bragging rights will be awarded to the People’s Choice winner. The maker of the first place overall entry will receive both a cash prize and gift card, as well as a custom designed trophy, while the second place winner will be given an assortment of gift cards for local establishments and a trophy as well. The third place entry will win a wine basket and trophy too. A local printing company will be able to supply customizes awards and other items for an ‘all in fun’ competition like this.
The admission price for this meatball battle will be $15 each, and it will be taking place in Long Beach’s Jetty Bar and Grill on December 9. More information, and a chance to register to win the title of meatball champion, can be found on the host's Facebook page.
