Island Park activity to explore life of astronauts

Being an astronaut is a dream career for many kids, and an Island Park activity will provide youth with the opportunity to get a taste of the experience.

Mad Science will have visiting educators stop by the Island Park Public Library where they will facilitate a hands-on workshop all about space travel and the people involved in it. It is for kids from ages 5 to 10, and it will be held in the venue’s Community Room.

The one-hour session will see kids learn about being an astronaut, including the rigorous physical training they must complete for the job. They will be able to suit up like a space traveller, use teamwork to complete a mission-style challenge, and build a model of a space station. They will each go home with a “Mad Science Spacewalk Mission.”

Libraries often host a variety of workshops, classes, and other educational activities for all ages. Learning materials can be both custom designed and printed by area Stationery printers, and requests for their products and services can be submitted in person, online, or over the phone.

This introduction to space travel for Island Park’s budding astronauts will be on offer on Tuesday, August 6. It will start at 6:00 pm. Registration will open to the public on August 1 at 10:00 am.
