Located on the Erie Canal, A Frog House will be celebrating its third year of operation next month. Frog enthusiasts and wetland conservationists from throughout the area, including Fairport, Penfield and West Walworth, are encouraged to bring their friends and families to this all-ages event.
Established in 2018 as a frog refuge and responsible land usage model, the house will be marking its third birthday with green cake and ice cream, live music and educational performances, and prizes for the children in attendance.
The winning entries from the house’s Art and Poetry contests held earlier this year, will be announced. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each contest, of $50, $30, and $20 respectively. The winning artwork and poetry will be displayed prominently for all attendees to appreciate.
The Frog House provides educational experiences for children and adults, about the importance of frogs in the food chain, as well as conscientious land and water usage. The establishment works with local area governments to control pesticide use, preserve ponds in parks, and safeguard the wetlands found throughout the State. Professional brochure printing services may be used to create full color materials, detailing the important work completed by the Frog House.
A Frog House’s third birthday party will be held on Sunday, August 8 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. The event is free to attend, however a $15 per person donation to the house is suggested. The refuge is located on 65 State Street in Pittsford.
