The Ontario County Office for the Aging will be holding a series of seminars on the Medicare enrollment process in the Fairport area this fall.
Aimed at senior citizens and caregivers, the seminars provide informational Brochures and an overview of the increasingly more complicated system.
Every year in the fall is the open period when Medicare beneficiaries can review their current coverage for prescription drugs and health insurance and make any changes they require. It is important that those enrolled understand all the options available to them so that they can make the best choice possible. This is why the Ontario County Office for the Aging (OCOA), an official, federally designated Area Agency on Aging, began to offer these free seminars to make sure that people on Medicare had what they needed to make an informed decision. There will be 20 seminars in all over the course of 10 weeks, so that everyone who wants to can attend. Reservations are required.
For anybody who is experiencing problems with the current cost of their Medicare coverage, the OCOA also offers appointments with certified counselors at its offices, or even in the person’s home. The counselor can assist with finding the best possible coverage options and help change the insurance plan before the end of the year. Appointments, however, are very limited.
The Medicare Seminars will be held Mondays at the Safety Training Facility in Hopewell every morning and afternoon between October 15 and December 7. Anyone interested will need to call the office in order to reserve a spot.
