Family-focused event has activities for everyone

The upcoming Fairport Oktoberfest is just over a week away and will have authentic German food, games, entertainment, dance, wine, and beer. Located at Fairport Junction Liftbridge Lane East, there is parking available in the area.

The festival will be held rain or shine under a large tent. There will be games and activities for children, adults, and seniors.

The musical entertainment will include Finger Lakes Alpine Band, Fairport Fire Department Oktoberfest Band, and Genesee Valley Band.

The Alphorn Society of Western New York will perform. They use wooden alpine horns measuring several meters long, as used by dwellers in the Swiss Alps.

There will be figure dancing, shoe-slapping and accordion music too, along with performances of Hansel and Gretel.

Fairport has prints shops with graphic design departments that design printed materials for festivals like this.

Swan Market Authentic German Deli and Catering will cater at the festival, offering soups, sausages, wurst plates, pork, schnitzel, sauerbraten, red cabbage, cold cuts, sandwiches, German potato salad, sauerkraut, bread dumplings, black forest, and hazelnut tortes.

The Just Desserts & Java Food Truck will be providing coffee, strudel, and other tasty desserts. Different types of German beer and wine will be available.

The Fairport Octoberfest will be held a week on Friday, October 5, from 3:00 pm midnight, and October 6 from 12:00 noon to midnight.
