Fairport Library to offer weekly ghost walks

Fairport Ghost Walks will take place in October, organized by the Fairport Library.

Each walk will be one hour and up to 30 people can attend. Resident Ron Roberts will lead these special walks in downtown Fairport.

The idea for The Fairport Ghost walks began when Roberts, his wife, and children went on a trip to England, and took a ghost walk in York that was fun and entertaining.

He knew Fairport had haunted houses and building and discussed the idea with friends and local organizations in Fairport. Several years later, he organized the tour with the help of the Fairport Library staff, who helped with getting audio tapes made and generating publicity. A friend of his helped him research and interview area residents with ghost stories for the audio tour.

They interviewed local owners of historical houses, inns, and buildings with a history of ghost sighting for the tour. The Green Lantern Inn is rumored to have had many ghost sightings.

The ghost walks will provide an audio device to hear the stories for all participants. The walks will pass haunted houses, inns, and businesses. Printers design Flyers and provide flyer printing for events like this.

The Fairport Ghost Walks will be held this Thursday, September 24, and every Thursday in October from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Registration is required, and participants should meet at the statute near the cana level entrance. Social distancing and masks must be worn.

The library is located at 1 Fairport Village Landing.
