Fairport goes on ghost hunt

Residents in the Fairport and Perinton areas are planning on some paranormal encounters this Halloween season. The Phantoms of Fairport Ghost Walk is an eerie tour of some of the town’s most famously haunted locations.

The walk is inspired by the television show ‘Mystic Encounters.’ The local public access show airs on FACT 15, as well as other channels in the greater Rochester area. The popular series follows local paranormal investigators and ghost hunters as they explore some of the reputedly spook-filled houses, farms, and cemeteries in the region. The show is a Fairport original, conceived and produced by local community members, and has explored locations as far away as the Furnaceville Cemetery in Ontario and the MacGregor’s Tap Room in Webster.

The ghost walk will start at the village hall and then proceed to locations from the show, including the Fairport Village Hall and the Green Lantern Inn. Tour Guides will provide some facts and histories for each location and will also share some true stories of ghost sightings that have been made on the premises. It is important to note that the tour is not directly affiliated with the show and therefore no Promotional Products will be given away. It is also informational only and will feature no paid actors or entry into the buildings.

The Phantoms of Fairport Ghost Walk will be held on October 22 and 29 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at various locations around Fairport. Admission is free. To reserve a spot, or for more information, interested parties should contact the Fairport Public Library.
