The Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association is sponsoring Spring Fling 2016. The event features games, markets, and activities for visitors of all ages.
The fair marks the opening of the Fairport Farmers Market for the year. More than 40 different vendors will show up for this special day, selling locally grown produce and handmade goods. Music and entertainment will also be provided at the market, as well as a build a boat workshop and free demos and samples from Rhythm Connect and Spotlight Studios.
The day will also feature the opening of the Erie Canal, and the Erie Canal Boating Company will have a special ‘Float Your Boat’ celebration for people to show off their seaworthy vessels. Nearby Sweet Melissa’s will have flower cookie decorating and Plant Paradise will be hosting a seedling planting session.
The Spring Fling will also have a children’s parade, a duck race, and a scavenger hunt. The Flyers indicate that clues for the hunt are hidden in local websites and social media pages. Hunters will have to use the clues to find special ducks hidden in the shops of participating merchants.
Spring Fling 2016 will be held tomorrow, May 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. along Perin St. and the Erie Canal in downtown Fairport. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested in attending should visit the website for more information.
