Residents in the village of Fairport are getting ready to celebrate their sesquicentennial.
The Fairport 150th Celebration is a two-day event with history, presentations, games, and more.
The festivities kick off with a presentation by the Fairport Sesquicentennial Committee at the Fairport Historical Museum. Titled 'Then and Now', the talk will look back at the last 150 years and will cover the evolution of the business district, fire department, and post office, as well as discussing famous inventors and inventions that have come out of Fairport over the years.
During the celebration, visitors can also participate in a history scavenger hunt using the Goose Chase app available on most smartphones. Interested parties can also pick up Brochures with all the clues, but will need a digital camera to complete the hunt.
The anniversary will also feature a historical exhibition baseball game with uniforms and rules from the 1800s. Additionally, there will be a Pop-Up Picnic with period music and games. Scavenger hunt winners will be announced and prizes will be given out at the picnic.
The Fairport 150th Celebration will be held on April 29 and 30 at a variety of locations around Fairport.
