Residents in Fairport and the surrounding areas are getting excited about the 41st Annual Fairport Canal Days. The three-day event features food, art, competition, and more.
The centrepiece of the celebration is the juried art competition. As one of the premier art festivals in the region, hundreds of local artists have submitted a variety of works, including painting, sculpting, woodwork, photography, graphic design, fashion, and weaving. Prizes for the competition have not yet been announced.
Additionally, the festivities will also serve as a street fair where local artists and vendors can showcase their works, hand out Promotional Products, or even give demonstrations. The event will also kick off with a barbecue chicken dinner. Every evening, the canal will play host to live music, entertainment, dancing, and more.
The event will also have a kids’ zone with bounce houses, face painting, crafts, and other activities geared towards children. Furthermore, paddleboats and canoes will be available for rental for visitors interested in getting on the water.
The Canal Days will end with a duck derby, where guests can buy rubber ducks with numbers on the bottom. On Sunday, the ducks will be released and the owners of the winning ducks will receive prizes.
Fairport Canal Days will be held on June 2, 3, and 4 at various times along North Main St. Admission to the event is free to the public, and anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
