Class to introduce art of working with hypertufa

Hypertufa is a substance made from a variety of ingredients bound together with Portland cement, and a Fairport garden center will introduce some of the tricks of the trade when it comes to working with the material.

Broccolo Garden Center offers the public a variety of learning opportunities, and one of these will introduce hypertufa and how it can be used to create an assortment of garden containers and other objects. These offer a rustic look and feel that may be a good fit for casual or cottage-style plantings.

The one-and-a-half-hour class will introduce learners ages 14 and up to prepare hypertufa and also how to use it to prepare a pot for planting. Everyone will get some hands-on practice and be able to take their creation home with them, and the registration and materials fee is $25 each. All of the instruction will be provided, and it will be on offer at 2755 Penfield Road.

Classes on a new crafting technique offer the attendees a chance to meet others who also enjoy the pastime. Instruction sheets and other handouts for a function can be provided by area Stationery printers.

This introduction to the art of working with hypertufa will begin at 10:00 am on October 1. Seats in the session may be reserved now.
