The Fairport Museum and Perinton Historical Society will welcome the author of multiple children's books for a presentation and book signing this December.
J. N. Courtney is the author of the Cloudscape series, the first two books in which have already been written so. The first follows the character Charlie and the second follows the character Matilda. Both of them play and work, attend school, and meet international people in a world of danger and beauty. While there, they find their strength, face their fears, and build relationships.
Courtney herself works as a writer and an occupational therapist. She has fond memories of checking out books at the nearby library, as well as making up stories for her little brothers.
In addition, she is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has participated in local events such as the Rochester Children's Book Festival and "Festival to Go." The idea for the Cloudscape series came to her while she was travelling to a college reunion.
The event will take place on Sunday, December 5 at 3:30 pm at 18 Perrin Street. Admission is free. Courtney will give a short presentation first, after which she will sign paperback books (which can be purchased at $9 via card, cash, or check) and likely hand out Business Cards.
